salta! la linda!
on wednesday morning we got up at an ungodly hour to fly up to salta, which is in the northwest part of the country and has borders with bolivia, paraguay and chile. it´s the home of some of the tallest mountains in the andes and it´s captial, salta has about half a million residents right now but is growing quickly.
so far we´ve done plenty, all of which i would rather explain with pictures than without. so i´ll give you a quick idea now and come back later to spice it up with more fotos.
-tour of la ciudad including a ride up the teleferico or cable car to view the whole city
-tour with the president of the maam museum (argentine archaelogical museum of the high mountains) to learn about four perfectly preserved mummies recovered from a mountain in salta province.
-eating at a famous fiambre (meats and cheeses, straight up) place in salta with all kinds of drinks from all around the world
-another homestay
-another ridiculous club
-a day trip to cachi, a tiny pueblo hidden up in the mountains to the west of salta with some of the best mountain views in the country-check out the pictures below which my friend john took
-getting to know a city completely different than buenos aires or any other i´ve ever visited
