entonces, mis amigos, i have way too many stories to tell, entonces, no puedo contarles todo. my spanish has improved incredibly during my three days here. i cannot believe the spped with which i can both speak and understand the language now. now desforunamente, no puedo upload mis fotos ahora, pero i will try to get hem done at some sort of computer shop tomorrow or the next day.

our stay at la estancia ended peacefully with less mean horses and more napping on my part. we ate very well and that´s all that i have to say about that. we left la estancia this morning for buenos aires.

i love this city so far. it reminds of a mix between new york and san francisco with more old colonial looking buildings. but at the same time it is distinctly latinoamericano. perhaps for now what that means to me is that it is disorganized. we´ll see. how´s that for a comparison. we left from the language experience office and took the ´subte´ or the subway up to la plaza de san martin. from there we walked through the main business and bank areas of downtown to la plaza de mayo which is the home of the government of argentina. there is la casa rosa, the pink house, very appropriately not blanca como yo or our white house. from here we took the colectivo, or the bus down to the most southern barrio of the city- la boca- or the mouth (of the river). this barrio reminded me of new orleans with houses painted different bright colors, live musicians everywhere and an open air market. on our way back to the office we stopped for a minute at la plaza de san telmo, the second oldest plaza behind plaza de mayo and probably the smallest in the city proper. it´s surrounded by upscale artsy shops and apartments and is a hang outs for younguns´like me.

¨) that is the funniest looking smiley ever, but the keyboard is different here so i cannot quite figure it out yet.

tonight i met my host family, mi madre silvia hernaez, y mis hermanos. i didn´t think that there was a family in theworld that talked as much as mine around the dinner table but i think that we´ve been beat. we talked for almost three hours about everything, it was great. i´m really excited to get to know the different members of my family and visit their lives more. mi hermanito me parece a lo mio real, pedro de chicago. que bueno!

i have a lot more that i´d like to write but my head hurts and i have to sleep before i try to speak anymore spanish because i cannot conjugate anything anymore.
