los horarios argentinos
i guess that culture shock is setting in now because i am really aware of some things about argentina that are very different than the states. i´m going to detail one of these things ahorita.
today, i got up around nine thirty, poked around my room a little and finally went out to greet the world at ten. but i was the first person up and mari, a women who lives with my family and is the second mother of mis hermanos, asked me why i got up so early. so then i waited. i read. i read some more. i walked around the house. i ate breakfast and showered. i was still hungry so i made myself a hard-boiled egg. and no one in my family got up until almost one p.m.
okay, so its the weekend, which means that we sleep in. seriously. then we have lunch at about 3. big lunch.
i usually get hungry at about 7 p.m. for dinner. as i´ve said many times i´m an eater. but 7 p.m. here is the beginning of the afternoon. we were out walking around the neighborhood then and i had some ice cream to hold me over. everyone then has stuff to do and hangs out until dinner at about 10:30! today i had to sleep to ward off my hunger and also to ready myself for meeting my brother´s friends tonight.
right now it´s 11:30 and we haven´t left yet to go see a band. we´ll probably leave in half an hour and stay out until dawn. and all of the city works like this. this is normal.
my poor stomach is so confused is doesn´t know what to do and siestas, or naps, have become entirely necessary. as i said earlier, un poquito culture shock.
